Kevin McCarty for Mayor Launches Digital Advertisement

Spot Highlights Key Differences in Race for Sacramento Mayor

(Sacramento, CA) – The Kevin McCarty for Mayor campaign launched a digital ad entitled – Look it Up) that focuses where the candidates for Sacramento Mayor stand on key issues facing the city.

The ad highlights the following:

  • McCarty’s plans for affordable housing and his call for an end to urban camping on our streets.
  • McCarty’s goals for more tiny homes and services by working with the County.
  • His endorsements from the Sacramento POA and Sacramento Firefighters Local 522.

The ad also shines a light on his opponent. Dr Flo Cofer’s proposal to use our underutilized city parks for homeless encampments and her promise to cut the police budget by one-third (or $70 million) are the two key issues.

Cofer’s Quote on using underutilized parks:

Where would candidates place shelters?

Flojaune Cofer during a forum last week said she’d propose an item to place sanctioned homeless encampments called Safe Grounds in underutilized city parks. Unlike privately owned lots, like the one on Stockton Boulevard she proposed in a Jan. 31 forum, the city already owns the parks. Many also have electricity and water hookups so people can shower, use bathrooms, do laundry and charge cellphones, she said…

During a follow-up interview, Cofer did not provide the name of a specific park where she wants to explore opening a Safe Ground. (Sacramento Bee – February 14, 2024)
